Megan Alexander interviews Jodi Sweetin of "Full House"

"How rude!" - Do you remember little Stephanie Tanner uttering those words on the hugely popular sitcom "Full House"?! Well real-life Jodi Sweetin is all grown up, and shares all about her real problems in her new book "UnSweetined". I caught up with the actress in the Inside Edition New York studios. Jodi is very open about her rollar-coaster ride with drugs and alcohol, which began at age 15. She talks about the very dark side of Hollywood and how hard it was to pull herself together. Jodi entered rehab twice and now has a little daughter. She was very honest about her stuggles and the rough road ahead. Story aired Nov 3rd on Inside Edition.

Megan models Heidi Klum's Emmy Gown

Mariska Hargitay dazzled in a silver Carolina Herrera gown. Hers cost more than $3,000, but one just like it from edressme.com is just $410!
A very pregnant Heidi Klum wore a custom-made Marchesa gown with a jaw-dropping price tag, $250,000.
But fashion expert Katlean De Monchy found a similar look from Jovani. It was so elegant; INSIDE EDITION's Megan Alexander had to try it for herself at the Union Square Ballroom in New York City. It only cost $500!

The cubicle!

Hello! Here I am at my cubicle at Inside Edition... you see a few photos on the wall behind me... it begs the question - do you decorate your office to the nines? or keep it more simple? My worklife is so crazy and hectic, I tend to gather things as I go...instead of bringing in a ton of decorations in the beginning. I am starting to gather! Its fun to collect momentos from interviews and my travels...those are more on my desk than wall, however...What do you do? : )

Fighting Poverty in South Africa - www.shiftingparadigms.org

My dear friends Jedd and Janelle Schroy are making a difference in South Africa. Please check out their website www.shiftingparadigms.org and see how you can help. Here is an a bit of what they do:

Paradigm Shift trains local churches and ministries to become the catalysts of change and transformation by combining the message of the Gospel with meeting practical needs. We currently focus our work in South Africa; equipping local churches to provide business and entrepreneurship training, small repayable loans (micro-finance) to expand viable microbusinesses one on one mentoring and spiritual discipleship.

Janelle and I were college roommates and I miss seeing this girl more often, but know she is doing wonderful things across the world...And they need financial support. Check out their website and see if you can help. God Bless you Jedd and Janelle!

Megan Alexander on "Dress for Success"

I recently joined the New Jersey board of a wonderful organization called "Dress for Success"... The mission of Dress for Success is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

Founded in New York City in 1997, Dress for Success is an international not-for-profit organization offering services designed to help our clients find jobs and remain employed. Each Dress for Success client receives one suit when she has a job interview and can return for a second suit or separates when she finds work.

In this photo, I am dropping off some of my suits ( many I only wear once or twice on TV) and donating them to Dress for Success. Check out www.dressforsuccess.org, find the chapter in your city, and help out! I love their motto "from suits to self-sufficiency"! Go DFS! I am so proud of this organization.

Inside Edition team covers the Michael Jackson Memorial

We said goodbye to the talented and magnetic Michael Jackson a few days ago...and Inside Edition was at the Staples Center in LA to cover it. Here I am reporting with Deborah Norville and Jim Moret. While it looked chaotic on television, I found the memorial service to be very organized and professional. Regardless of the dark moments in this man's life, you cannot deny he was one of the greatest entertainers we have ever seen...

Megan supports Gen Art in NYC

Megan recently attended the Gen Art June 2009 Benefit—the New York–based art, film, music and fashion nonprofit organization—has enlisted several of its famous alumni, as well as other designers and actors, to help host a fund-raiser on June 24 in New York to raise money for the organization, which is challenged with recouping lost corporate funding for its events. It was really neat to see such a good turn out...congrats to my friend Sara Vicendese, who sits on their committee, for a job well done! Oh and by the way...Whitney Port from "The city" was there, and so were the cameras, filming her walking around and mingling...to be seen on an upcoming episode of the MTV reality show... I think my purple jacket made a shot... : )

More London photos! Big Ben

Meg reporting from Big Ben in London!

Meg takes Londontown!

Hello mates! I just returned from my whirlwind trip to London! I was sent there Friday to cover Susan Boyle and the show "Britain's Got Talent". In this photo I am inteviewing fans outside the finale of the show on Saturday. If you have not heard of Susan Boyle, all you need to do is pick up a paper or find her singing "I dreamed a dream" on you tube...this woman was blasted to superstardom in a matter of weeks, finished 2nd on the show and now is recovering at an upscale rehab facility in London. I ran around London for a few days, interviewing people about her care and how she is doing, as well as questioning if the producers of reality shows really take good care of their contestants. This poor woman obviously needed more help along the way... On a happier note - she seems to be getting better and might join the Britain's Got Talent tour which kicks off June 12th. What was interesting is that this woman attracted press from all around the world. I was interviewed by French, Russian and Japanese press about why America loves Susan Boyle. I also appeared on Sky News and the BBC. London is such a pretty city! From my runs in Hyde Park to the yummy food and delightful people ( that accent is very contagious!)... I think London is one of the most enchanting cities on earth and I can't wait to go back! Cheers!

DHARMA IS BACK!

If you loved the TV Show "Dharma and Greg" and fell into depression when it went off the air...never fear! Jenna Elfman is back! I interviewed the actress last week during the CBS Upfronts - this is when CBS reveals all its new shows for Fall 2009! She is starring in the comedy "Accidentally on Purpose" a show about a career woman who becomes pregnant with a much younger man's baby, and still pines for her Older Boss. Fun Fact: Did you know Jenna's Dad wrote the theme song for the Simpsons? yup! Jenna Elfman was as nice as can be, and I really appreciate that she is tall - I love not having to take my high heels off! : ) Catch Jenna if the fall on CBS. Former GIANT now a TV star! Meg and Michael Strahan

We know him as a New York Giants football star! Also a sportscaster for Fox NFL Sunday! Michael Strahan was one heck of a football player...and now he's coming to a television set near you! I just left the W Hotel in NYC where all the new FOX shows are being unveiled. I interviewed Michael about his new sitcom "Brothers". Michael plays "Mike", a good-looking wealthy and recently retired NFL player living the high life in NYC...( sound familiar? ) then he gets a phone call from his family in Houston. The family is falling apart and Michael heads to Texas to help out. Its a feel-good, funny show about how important family is, and how unimportant fame and money are! "Brothers" kicks off Fridays at 8pm this Fall on Fox. The cast includes Darryl "Chill" Mitchell, Carl Weathers, CCH Pounder, and Colton Dunn. Michael is such a nice guy!!! - loved his peach shirt! : )

Sean Stephenson tells Me to "Get off your But!"

Yes, I spelled it right, BUT. Sean Stephenson was born in 1979 with a condition called Osteogenesis Imperfecta, which means his bones are very brittle. So brittle, that he crushed every one of those baby bones during his birth. Doctors told his parents he would not live 24 hours. 30 years later, at 3 feet tall, he is changing the world! He graduated college, interned at the White House, and this year, wrote a book called "Get off your BUT". Sean says what holds us back in life is our"buts"..."but I'm not pretty enough...but I'm not smart enough...but I'm not strong enough." He says if we would just stop using those buts, we could achieve great things. He sure is! I was honored to interview Sean and we hit it off immediately. (Great sense of humor!) He showed me his work-out routine ( yes, the man who was told his bones were so brittle is now doing 100 push-ups and 100 situps a day!!! he has a mean six pack!), and recently threw out the first pitch at the White Sox game. He is a motivational speaker and also a practicing therapist. And what a family! the Stephensons are something special. Thanks for a great interview, Sean!!! Stay close for when his story will air on Inside Edition. I'll keep you posted friends. : ) - Megan

Miss CA USA chats about her infamous answer...

Miss CA USA. Carrie Prejean, stopped by our studios yesterday to talk about her answer to her top 5 question at this Miss USA pageant, of whether she believes states should allow same-sex marriage. In this photo I am welcoming her into our interview room. Her answer and Judge Perez Hilton's, (the celebrity judge who asked the q), his angry response has caused a media firestorm. Miss CA said if she had to do it all over again, she would not change her answer; she believes marriage is between a man and woman. She said she had to be true to herself and her biblical beliefs. For a behind the scenes note, I had a fun moment in the make-up room with her before the cameras started rolling... as we were getting ready, she went to wash her hands in our sink, the water sprayed up and hit her in the face and got all over her jacket! We burst out laughing! - it was a much needed silly moment amidst this intense media scrutiny on her. As you can see in the interview, she looked flawless... the water did no damage! Go to www.insideedition.com for full interview.

10 years later...remembering Columbine.

I traveled to Columbine High School in Littleton, CO, to cover the 10th anniversary of the Columbine tragedy. This photo is of my interview with Patrick Ireland. He was shot 3 times at Columbine, and is most famously known as the the boy who climbed out the window. Patrick told me it took him 3 hours to make it from the floor of the library to the window, he was so badly injured. He graduated first in his class at Columbine, graduated college, married his lovely wife Casey and has a successful career in finance. He speaks across the country about his story, and his desire to turn that horrible day into something positive. He told me in our interview "You can chose to be a victim or a victor in life. I am a victor." What a blessing to talk to this amazing young man. Story is Monday, April 20th on Inside Edition.

She's a real-life mermaid and world record holder!

I got a chance to sit down with Sara Campbell, who just made the incredible 314 feet dive straight down into Bahama waters...breaking the world record!

This 37 year old only took up diving a few years ago...and she held her breath for this amazing dive for 3 minutes, 34 seconds underwater! Sara wears a monofin, a single fin that both feet slip into, hence the mermaid effect. She stopped by the Inside Edition studios to chat about her amazing feat. What a neat lady! Needless to say, I felt very pale next to this tanned beauty. Sara said the majority of the dive is MENTAL...you have to believe you can do it. She says she feels this way about most things in life - believe it, and you will achieve it. What great advice. The story airs Monday and Tuesday, April 14th and 15th, on Inside Edition.

Taylor Swift and Meg talk red dresses!

Here I am with Album of the Year winner Taylor Swift at the 44th annual ACM awards in Las Vegas. Can you believe she is only 18??? This is the first time she has worn red to an event! Looks pretty good! She had only her i-phone in her purse...no make-up, nothing in there! I found her to be cute and calm. I think she is really enjoying her career right now and just keeping it low-key. Since she has a song on Miley Cyrus's Hannah Montana movie, I asked her if she would ever consider doing films? She laughed and said she has too much going on right now...very true! : )
By the way, I am wearing gold Jewelery courtesy of J Green Jewelers in San Antonio, TX. More later!

Hello friends!

I just returned from Las Vegas at the 44th annual Academy of Country Music Awards at the fabulous MGM Grand! Now, I usually prefer traveling to Nashville for country music events, but I must say the MGM was very organized and the night went off without a hitch! here is a picture of me on the red carpet, with country cutie Luke Bryan behind me. I will upload my photos soon. My favorite highlights were interviewing the lovebirds Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, the high energy Little Big Town, the very sweet Taylor Swift, the funny Chuck Wicks and James Otto, the super smart Martina McBride and the passionate Trace Adkins and John Rich. You know what I love about Country Music? All the stars enjoy one another and say hello while they are doing their interviews on the red carpet. They have fun! They laugh! They keep it real. It is one of my favorite events to cover...being that I worked in the industry for a few years when I loved in Nashville....( remember that Josh Turner video? : ) More photos to come...

Beauty Queen on a Budget

I recently traveled to Seattle, WA ( my hometown! ) to interview the current Miss WA USA , Tara Turnure. Tara has put her business marketing degree from NorthEastern to work in a very practical way. In these tough economic times, this beautiful young lady is being resourceful and savvy as she prepares for the MISS USA pageant. She has found numerous local businesses to sponsor her and cut her costs significantly! From hair and make-up to personal training, tanning and clothes, she has covered it all. By persistently calling people and asking for their help, Tara is receiving incredible discounts and sponsorships. Its a great reminder to everyone that with a little creativity and determination, things can happen! Most importantly, Tara has proved you don't need a lot of money to prepare for Miss USA. She shops at Forever 21 just like the rest of us. It was a pleasure to interview her and her Mom, Terry. I wish her the very best at Miss USA - April 19th in Las Vegas. The story will air TUESDAY, April 7th on INSIDE EDITION.

here's hoping you take some encouragement from this story today! : )

Granny saves the day! Alice Dierkson

I had the pleasure of traveling to Belleplaine, KS, last week and sit down to interview Alice Dierkson. Alice is one tough Grandma who literally chased down a burglar in her home town! She saw someone snooping around an abandoned house, chased him down with her car until police arrived, and he was caught! In this photo she is recieving the hometown hero award for outstanding citizenship from the local police department, which was a surprise to Alice! Thanks to Alice for keeping our country safer and also for those yummy cinnamon roles she had when we arrived for the interview. : ) Just another wonderful story I get to be a part of...our country is full of incredible citizens just like Alice.
See the video at www.insideedition.com
